ABRO summer 2013 - in review!
My wife Wende and I attend a great church Nashville United Methodist Church in Nashville, North Carolina. Shortly after we got married in 2009, we felt led to be apart of this church and the wonderful people and friendship that developed in just a short time. Yes the news and excitement of this program and outreach to the children of Belarus the members of our church shared was contagious. Several years paseed the summers we enjoyed VBS and seeing the kids from Belarus enjoy their visit. In the fall of 2012 our close friends from church approached us and ask, "You guys should think about hosting a kid for six weeks through the ABRO program. Our friends had hosted Alina (on the far left) the summer before and her brother Ilya (center) would like to visit the USA. We are both teachers and dedicated to the children we teach each year and honestly and selfishly we enjoy not being tied down and its nice to relax without being around children each day. We prayed about it and did some research and felt led to have him come for six weeks of fun and the opportunity to get relief from the radiation from Chernobyl Nuclear Plant. I can't emphasis enough the importance of listening to God and praying together in marriage. God richly blessed us and we were overwhelmed with how much I can love a kid in just six weeks. I can't wait to see my Belarusian son Ilya get of that plane June 12 and spend another great summer with him and so many precious children this summer.
